all of your emotions are roiling like the colors of oil on water
alternate title: "passion pit: the picture" lol that is almost literally all i listened to while painting this.
I had so much fun in all aspects of this image: coming up with ideas, drawing her and the lichen, making the ink textures, coloring..!! oh man, the ink textures!! were so fun to make! I was actually surprised how little I relied on external resources for this picture, as usually i am a texture abuser, but I made all of them this time except for the faint vertical bands. i think they came with ps but i can't remember.
the title refers to an aesthetic I've had in mind for a long time, but haven't been really able to exemplify myself. i feel that this picture is my first major step to realizing "Compact and Complex", though I have a number of favorite paintings by others that I feel fit that aesthetic. It's marble, the colors of oil on water, a troubled strength just beneath the skin. i'm bad at explaining things.
I'm hoping to win some moolah with this at my school's art contest to get some things to hang in the art union. i'm actually turning it in tomorrow so wish me luck aw yeah and also ~MobilePants who is also entering (we can both win because they pick up to 4 winners)
